“A vision without a strategy remains an illusion”- Lee Bolman.

The same applies to your GATE vision. If you do not have a well-curated strategy for GATE preparation, then the desired results will be out of reach.

Factors such as referring to the best gate preparation app for mechanical, appropriate learning resources, note-making, attempting mock tests, timely revision, staying focused, and self-analysis are prerequisites for the proper execution of the GATE preparation strategy. With a strong mindset and a comprehensive plan, owning your GATE dream becomes an easy task. To ensure that you are on the right track, we have listed a few tips that will help you in the GATE preparation and crack the exam with utmost ease.

How to Prepare for GATE 2022?

Since GATE is one of India’s toughest competitive exams, students need proper guidance for its preparation. We have compiled a list of pro tips that will answer the above-stated question:

# Know the Syllabus well

It is the most important part of your preparation. Be fully aware of the study material. With recent changes in the GATE syllabus, one should have a basic understanding of the syllabus for efficient preparation. Know syllabus, Know studies!

# Refer Previous Year Papers

Previous year’s papers are a great source of information and knowledge. Solving the PYQs will let you subconsciously get an idea about the type of questions that GATE asks and the skill set the exam wants to test in candidates. Moreover, they make you aware of the exam pattern and also help you to identify the areas from which the questions are frequently asked.

Hence, refer to previous year papers quite often during the GATE preparation.

# Don’t Procrastinate

As the GATE 2022 notification is out, you should make the most of your available time and cover the syllabus with substantial time for revision. Don’t procrastinate as the syllabus is vast and time is limited. Every second counts! NOW is the best time to add more fuel to your GATE preparation.

# Devise a Proper Study Plan

A proper study plan with comprehensive coverage of all subjects is crucial for GATE 2022 preparation. It should include syllabus completion, revision, and practice tests. Follow the study plan religiously and stick to it till the very end of your preparation journey.  For instance if you have planned to start GATE exam preparation for CS IT, you should have a well-structured study plan for it.

# Focus on ‘Understanding’ and not ‘Mugging’

If you have understood a concept/topic, you will be in a position to confront a question; however, if you have only mugged the concept, you will be left blank. GATE tests your general aptitude and analysis; hence understanding and developing the concepts becomes vital during preparation. Tackling MCQ, NAT, or the newly added Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) becomes as easy as 1-2-3 if you have your fundamentals clear.

# Practice Mock Tests

Mock tests are replicated tests based on the competitive exam’s pattern. Solving them will help you gain confidence and help you to improve your question-solving skills. The number of mock tests attempted during GATE preparation is directly proportional to scoring good marks and a better rank in the exam.

# Revise Frequently

If you do not revise what has been studied, you will forget everything you have learnt. Retaining technical and complex topics/concepts can be a daunting task for students. It is a human tendency to forget things with time, and the GATE syllabus is no exception. The syllabus is vast, time-consuming, and complex. So, it is strongly recommended to devote sufficient time to your revision. You can also refer to best free apps for gate preparation for effectively revising for GATE.

# Say Bye to Social Media

The digital world, although offering countless advantages, can prove to be an obstacle for the concentration level, if not managed judiciously. You may think of starting your studies, but instead, you start surfing social media on your mobile phone. It’s not that we don’t realize the deleterious effect of digital noise on our productivity. We do. Yet, we don’t avoid it.

We hope the above-mentioned tips will help you to effectively prepare for GATE and crack it with ease.
